Once a flock has been set up on the Signet database, most of the stationery that is sent to breeders is pre-printed for ease of completion. These can be filled in manually or there are significant cost benefits in inputting data online, via BASCO, or sending data in spreadsheets electronically.

NEW…Entering data directly via BASCO online – it is quick and easy!!

Birth notifications, Embryo Transfer lambs, Shearling ewe weights and lamb 8 week weights can be added easily via BASCO online directly. This is possible for any pure breed (not composite) where the flock book sequence number matches the UK ministry tag for example KTM:1700162 and UK 0 328128 00162.

Instructions for entering data can be found here

Data input forms

The following data input forms have been designed to assist new breeders with the submission of data. Breeders may also wish to supply this information using a spreadsheet or similar electronic file. This is perfectly acceptable providing that the same field headings are adopted.

Supplying Data Electronically

Signet clients can supply data to Signet in an electronic format.

All clients must supply data in exactly the same format – using identities for the sires and dams of their lambs which exactly match the identities of these animals held on BASCO.

If you are using Farm or Flock Management Software to store your records, then it may be worth speaking to your software provider about the facility to export data to Signet.

The file specification for supplying new animals records is shown below. This file can be used to supply details for new animals (purchased ewes and rams) or lambing information.
